Inception is a flawed masterpiece. How come there aren’t any pithy log-lines/catchy language in the ads for it? Because it’s a high-concept film that’s almost impossible to describe “pithily.” My best? A mashup of The Matrix; Synechdoche, New York; and Memento with a heavy art-house sensibility. Oh, and some amazing action and special effects.
See?
Probably not. Which is why you need to see it in the cinema. Now.
Say what you will, it’s inspiring to see a big hollywood director taking on this kind of fare and getting the resources to do it right. I know Christopher Nolan is currently the tinseltown darling, but, still, some execs had to take a chance on it.
Now, if only he would collaborate with Charlie Kaufman…
